Wetra EDC acquired by Beekman Transport

Catapult advised and assisted the shareholder of Wetra – Marcel Wever – during the sales process of his company to Beekman Transport in Apeldoorn (NL). Both parties acknowledge a good strategic and cultural fit and the acquisition significantly strengthens the network. Our deal team – consisting of Kenneth Derksen, Sebastiaan Klunder and Niels ten Have – advised the seller in finding the right partner, in the negotiations throughout the entire process, during the due diligence, and in drafting and editing the transaction documentation. A great process with satisfied buyer and seller. On behalf of the entire Catapult team we thank all parties involved, resulting in this successful transaction.

The press release below has been issued in connection with this transaction.

Beekman Transport acquires Wetra EDC in Nieuw Amsterdam (NL).

Last week, logistics service provider Beekman Transport in Apeldoorn completed the acquisition of Wetra EDC (European Distribution Centre) in Nieuw Amsterdam.

Wetra EDC is a flexible transport company with 60 employees and 43 tractor units. From its location in Nieuw Amsterdam, the company is especially strong in Benelux distribution of outsized goods and distribution to Germany. Wetra’s shipping department takes care of deliveries within 24 hours throughout Europe. Wetra’s distribution center is located nearby highway A37, providing a fast connection to Northern and Eastern Europe.

This acquisition is a great strengthening of Beekman’s own network and international services to clients. The acquisition provides a further consolidation of its Benelux network, which Beekman operates entirely with its own transport in a 24-hour service. The northern hub in Nieuw Amsterdam is functional for the north of the Netherlands. Also on the international services both companies strengthen each other where they are both strongly active in transports to Germany.

  • A good fit with Beekman’s Benelux distribution and international network
  • Complementarity and connection of cultures are a good basis for cooperation
  • Consolidation strengthens networks and increases efficiency for clients.

Alfred Beekman, Director and Major Shareholder of Beekman Transport is pleased with the acquisition and sees acquiring Wetra’s capacity and loyal employees as an addition to his motivated team of employees in Apeldoorn. “Both companies have the right mentality and employees where the client comes first and the quality of service is high. It felt immediately right and that is important to me”

Marcel Wever, former Director and Major Shareholder of Wetra, is delighted with the transfer of his company and employees to Beekman. “Succession was a problem and you have the responsibility for sixty families. It’s a relief when you find a partner who has the same attitude and culture in the company. After all, selling your business is quite something, but I am very confident about it””
